This is the companion scene to View 2, directed just to the right of that view. It shows the western fields of the Sherrick farm, which were traversed by the right flank of the Union line. The red brick Sherrick farm house would be just off to the right of this image.

For the most part, the Union right flank had good success in the afternoon's battle, eventually reaching the very outskirts of Sharpsburg. When the Union left flank collapsed under A.P. Hill's attack, however, the right flank was obligated to retreat also.
